Immortal
An Immortal is a being who has been granted a perfected body by a Divine after death. They are no longer mortal, though they were once so, and they are not Divine. Immortals exist in a state of perfected flesh and bone, having been translated from their former flesh and blood form after judgment. They are eternally preserved and governed by the Immortal Law, a component of Divine Law.
Immortality is a universal concept across the Continuum Universes, consistent in nature and consequence regardless of individual universal metaphysics.
Definition and Nature
- Immortals are those who have passed judgment and were found worthy of continued existence without pain, suffering, or the threat of death.
- Immortals possess spirits but cannot bear children or create new spirits.
- Immortality is a state, not a class or species.
- Immortality is not earned through magic or forbidden ritesâonly a Divine may bestow it.
- Immortals do not age, suffer disease, or deteriorate. Their bodies, even if destroyed, will reform without outside assistance.
Immortal vs Divine vs Mortal
Type | Soul | Spirit | Can Die | Can Create | Role |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Mortal | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes (Mortal Birth) | Lives, Chooses, Learns |
Immortal | Yes | Yes | No | No | Serves, Guards, Judges, Champions |
Divine | Yes | Yes | No | Yes (Spiritual Creation) | Creates, Judges, Commands |
Immortal Traits
- Freedom from Death: Immortals cannot be slain. Even disintegration or cosmic destruction only delays their reformation.
- Painlessness: They no longer suffer from emotional, physical, or spiritual agony.
- Judgmental Permanence: Once immortal, their fate is sealed. They cannot be "de-immortalized."
- Memory Restoration: Immortals are granted perfect memory of their Pre-Mortal Existence.
- No Reproduction: They lack both the Rights of Mortal Creation and the Rights of Divine Creation. While they may engage in intercourse, they cannot bear or sire offspring.
Role and Origin
- Immortals are created exclusively by Divines.
- Most are selected for exemplary moral character or are granted the state through Divine favor.
- After The Convergence, many were chosen to serve as Champions of the Divines, combatting Deviants and cross-universal corruption.
- Others became guardians, teachers, or spiritual protectors.
The Immortal Law
Immortals are bound by a Universal Codex known as the Immortal Law, which includes:
- Prohibition against creating life or interfering with free will.
- Limitation of authority to their appointed dominion or role.
- Requirement of obedience to Divine summons or judgment.
Those who violate these laws may be:
- Imprisoned in realms such as Thorlen.
- Banished to isolated timelines or sealed dimensions.
- Repurposed into Divine Servants with reduced autonomy.

Misconceptions
- Immortal species such as Eldari (Elf), Aetherians, or Drakari may live indefinitely, but they are not true Immortals. They are more accurately termed undying or ageless, as they may still be slain or destroyed.
- Demons are not fallen immortals; they are voidborn, and possess no spirit at all.
- Deviants are true Immortals who broke the Immortal Law, creating the Contradiction and triggering The Convergence.
Hierarchy of Immortality
- Immortal: The base form, granted after judgment.
- Champion: Immortals tasked with divine missions or duties across universes.
- Divine: Those who are not only immortal, but possess the Rights of Divine Creation and sit in the Yonder Realm.
