Median Plane (Galaxa)

From Continuum Universes Wiki

The Median Plane, often called the Mortal Realm, is the material layer of the Liminal Dimension within the universe of Galaxa. It is the central stage for mortal existence, where life and death play out in cycles, and where civilizations rise and fall under the watch of divines and cosmic forces.

Nature of the Plane

Unlike the Teleka Plane, Astral Plane (Galaxa), and Ethereal Plane (Galaxa), the Median Plane is fully material. It is composed of matter, energy, and biological life as mortals understand it. It forms the “surface” of reality, with deeper layers of essence, thought, and spirit flowing through and around it.

All mortals are born into the Median Plane, and every magic system—Teleka, Astral (Galaxa), and Magicka (Galaxa)—requires a Median anchor for its expression.

Role in the Liminal Dimension

The Median Plane is the anchor and reference point for the entire Liminal Dimension. Souls emerge into it at birth, draw sustenance from the Teleka Plane, resonate with the Astral Plane, and eventually pass into the Ethereal Plane at death. Every mortal journey, however brief or grand, takes place on this stage.

Magic and Technology

While the Median Plane itself is not inherently magical, it serves as the bridge for all magic and technology:

Cultural Interpretations

Mortals often call the Median Plane the “World of Flesh,” “The Ground of Being,” or simply “the Realm.” To philosophers and mystics, it is the proving ground of souls, where choices, virtues, and flaws are tested before judgment.

Civilizations across Galaxa treat the Median as the “true home,” even while acknowledging the influence of higher planes.

Divine Oversight

Divines regard the Median Plane as sacred because it is the threshold where mortals grow, struggle, and prove themselves. It is heavily protected by Universal Law, and reckless interference by immortals or divines is strictly limited.
