Teleka Drive
The Teleka Drive is a form of FTL Star Drive technology unique to the Galaxa universe, enabling vessels to traverse the vast distances between stars—and even between galaxies. Unlike conventional propulsion, the Teleka Drive partially phases a vessel into the Teleka Plane, a metaphysical dimension adjacent to the Material Plane, thereby circumventing the so-called Divine Constants that govern the speed of light. This process allows ships to achieve superluminal travel without violating the fundamental laws of reality as enforced by the divine structure of the universe.
Mechanism[edit | edit source]
To operate, the Teleka Drive uses Teleka—a fundamental force akin to both magic and psionics—allowing attuned vessels and their pilots to "phase" partially out of the Material Plane. Travel occurs within the Teleka Plane, where physical distance is dramatically compressed, making interstellar and even intergalactic journeys feasible in days or hours, rather than centuries.
- It is an absolute universal law in Galaxa that any attempt to exceed the speed of light while remaining within the Material Plane results in catastrophic consequences. Such violations risk destabilizing local reality, provoking time-space anomalies, or triggering direct intervention from higher cosmic powers. The Teleka Drive avoids these perils by exploiting loopholes in the fabric of the universe, utilizing metaphysical transition rather than brute acceleration.
Marks and Magnitudes[edit | edit source]
Teleka Drives are classified by "marks" (generations or levels), each mark representing a full order of magnitude increase in maximum transit velocity over the speed of light. A Mark I Teleka Drive is capable of traveling at approximately ten times the speed of light; a Mark II is one hundred times faster, and so on. Theoretically, higher marks require exponentially greater mastery of Teleka and increasingly sophisticated attunement between pilot, vessel, and drive.
Origins and Development[edit | edit source]
The technology behind the Teleka Drive has arisen independently many times across the Galaxa universe, but only among species or individuals with innate or engineered Teleka Attunement. Each culture’s approach to Teleka Drive construction varies, but all share the principle of metaphysical phase transition as a bypass to the light-speed limit.
The earliest known Teleka Drives were developed by Precursor Species such as the Valdian and Elvari, but advanced marks have since proliferated among numerous civilizations—including Humans, Grelians, and other technologically adept species.
Limitations and Dangers[edit | edit source]
Travel via Teleka Drive is not without peril:
- Misalignment during phasing can strand a vessel between planes, leading to catastrophic loss.
- Overuse can destabilize a ship’s hull or corrupt its Teleka matrices, risking destruction or Teleka Corruption.
- Unauthorized or reckless activation within the Material Plane (without proper transition) can tear holes in local reality, causing unpredictable phenomena or inviting intervention from cosmic entities.
Societal Impact[edit | edit source]
Teleka Drives have shaped the very fabric of interstellar society in Galaxa, enabling the formation of vast polities, star empires, and galactic trade routes. Many religious and mystical orders, such as the Order of Light, consider the proper and ethical use of Teleka Drives a sacred duty, while more clandestine groups exploit their power for smuggling, war, or clandestine travel.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Every mark of Teleka Drive is said to represent a quantum leap in mastery, requiring not only technical expertise but also metaphysical enlightenment.
- Ancient legends warn that the misuse of Teleka Drives contributed to the downfall of entire star-faring civilizations.
