Diet
Overview
In the vast universes of the Continuums, species exhibit a wide range of dietary adaptations based on their biology, environment, and evolution. The following classifications define the primary sources of sustenance for various lifeforms.
Classification
- Omnivore – Consumes both Flesh, Plants, and occasionally Fungi.
- Herbivore – Feeds strictly on Plants.
- Carnivore – Feeds strictly on Flesh.
- Sanguivore – Consumes Blood as its primary source of nutrition.
- Lumivore – Absorbs and metabolizes Light as an energy source.
- Fungivore – Feeds strictly on Fungi.
- Umbrivore – Derives sustenance from Darkness, whether as an absence of light, shadow energy, or even metaphysical despair.
- Lithivore – Consumes Minerals, Metals, and geological matter for sustenance.
- Spiceivore – Feeds exclusively on Spice (Galaxa), a rare and potent drug.
Notes on Special Diets
Lithivores often inhabit extreme environments such as asteroid fields, deep underground caverns, or planets with minimal organic life. Their physiology allows them to break down and absorb minerals or even metabolize metals for sustenance.
Spiceivores are unique to Galaxa, existing in societies where the consumption of Spice is not just a habit but a biological necessity. Prolonged exposure may lead to genetic mutations that make Spice the only viable food source.
Umbrivores thrive in darkness, either consuming literal shadow energy or absorbing fear, despair, and negative emotions as sustenance.
Lumivores may include creatures that subsist entirely on solar radiation, utilizing specialized organs to convert light into metabolic energy.
