Primordial Spirit

Primordial Spirits are the first and purest souls born from the Fathoming of a Universe. Unlike the Divine Children who arise from Divine Union or Reproduction between Divine Parents, Primordial Spirits are the direct byproduct of creation itself—sparks of divine resonance left behind when the fabric of reality first awakens.

Across all universes of the Continuum, it is the sacred duty of every generation of Divine Parents to bestow upon these spirits mortal vessels, merging the spiritual with the material. Through this eternal rite, life itself comes into being. Every beast, bloom, and thinking creature is, at its core, a Primordial Spirit clothed in matter—a living echo of the moment of creation.

Origin and Nature

When a universe is fathomed, its Divine Parents weave together law, light, and intention. Not all of that intention is used. The excess—the overflow of divine thought—solidifies into living awareness. These nascent entities, the Primordial Spirits, are not planned but inevitable: creation’s memory taking form.

The oldest Divines speak of the First Divine Parents—names so sacred they are never spoken even among gods—who first discovered this phenomenon and established the Law of Embodiment. They decreed that every universe born thereafter would grant its Primordial Spirits vessels so that life could exist as the living mirror of divinity. Since then, countless Divine lineages have repeated this rite, shaping new worlds and beings in infinite variations.

Thus, Jovan and Asarea are not the first to grant vessels, but the youngest known Divine Parents to continue the ancient pattern. Their work in Aerenda reflects a tradition that has endured since the first breath of the multiverse.

Role in Universal Ecology

All Fauna and Flora contain within them a Primordial Spirit. These spirits give instinct to the beast and growth to the plant; they are the animating essence behind every form of life. The beating of a heart, the unfolding of a flower, even the movement of ecosystems—all are manifestations of spirit guiding matter toward harmony.

In some realms, such as Aerenda, the Faunia and Floria are recognized as unbound Primordial Spirits—those who chose not to inhabit mortal vessels. In more scientifically inclined universes like Galaxa, they are understood as conscious energy fields—"biospiritual constants" measurable through psionic resonance.

Each spirit, no matter how small or humble, participates in the grand cycle of divine remembrance: living, dying, and returning to the Aetherial Veil to be reborn again. Through this process, creation remains conscious of itself, and life continues the Divine work.

The Law of Embodiment

The Law of Embodiment, first established by the First Divine Parents, dictates that the Primordial Spirits must experience the material world to fulfill the purpose of creation. This is achieved through the bestowal of mortal vessels—bodies woven of physical and metaphysical substance.

Each universe enacts this rite differently:

  • Some Divines breathe life through sound or light.
  • Others weave souls into matter through the interplay of psionic or elemental forces.
  • A few use entire worlds—planetary vessels—to house multitudes of spirits at once.

When the vessel dies, the spirit returns to its origin within the Aetherial Veil, carrying with it the experiences of life. These experiences enrich the soul-field of the universe, subtly reshaping the next generation of vessels. In this way, evolution itself is a sacred ritual—a reflection of divine memory.

Relationship with Mortality and Divinity

To mortals, the Primordial Spirits are often invisible, sensed only through intuition, emotion, or dreams. Yet every act of empathy or creativity is a dialogue with the inner spirit—the echo of the divine within.

To the Divine Parents, these spirits are their most ancient companions, children of the first light of existence. The gifting of vessels is both mercy and necessity: without embodiment, the Primordials would remain formless potential. With it, they become the living chorus of creation.

When the Contradiction fractured the boundaries between universes, displaced Primordial Spirits migrated across realities, inhabiting new forms. Some merged with alien ecosystems, producing hybrid species of impossible beauty and complexity—creatures of both science and miracle.

Theological and Philosophical Perspectives

Among the Celestial Colleges, Primordial Spirits are seen as the bridge between the Divine and the Real—the proof that existence remembers its source. The Mechanist Sects of Galaxa refer to them as “quantum souls,” describing them as measurable but not reproducible.

Every faith interprets their nature through its own lens:

  • The Aerendan temples of Ontea and Medriel teach that the Primordials are “God’s first breath, repeated eternally.”
  • The Aenorians believe their crystalline bodies resonate with primordial energy, allowing them to communicate directly with the cosmic soul.
  • The Valorik word for Primordial Spirit, or’kethaaneth (“soul-before-soul”), is used to bless newborns, reminding all beings that life itself is divine inheritance.

Modern Manifestations

In the present age of the Continuum, as the Contradiction grows and universes bleed into one another, the Primordial Spirits stir within their vessels. Animals awaken to strange awareness; plants dream of light from other stars. Divines interpret this as the Harmonic Awakening—the approach of Judgement Day, when all life will remember its origin and return to unity.

Trivia

  • Every living organism in existence is animated by a Primordial Spirit, regardless of intelligence.
  • Entire living worlds can house trillions of them, forming unified planetary souls.
  • The First Divine Parents’ true names are forbidden; only Divines may speak or hear them, for they are the original sound of creation.
  • Jovan and Asarea are considered young in the divine lineage, yet their universe Aerenda is one of the most studied examples of the Vessel Rite.
  • Aenorian scholars classify Primordial Spirits as “resonant constants”—entities that sustain photonic and psionic equilibrium within reality itself.
