Human (Galaxa)
The Humans of the Galaxa Universe are a genetically diverse, spiritually complex, and wildly adaptable species descended from the Proto-Human template designed by the divine progenitors Esmerelea and Theadrid. Though they bear the name and form of humans found in other universes such as Kosmos or Apokalyptika, Galaxan Humans are native to Terra Prime (Galaxa), a world that has since been lost to myth and memory.
Their solar system—distinct from the Sol system of Kosmos—includes the planets Qoneris, Asteria, Falvorth, Terra Prime (Galaxa), Aris, Mentaculus, Novithrus, Omnilus, Overith, and Stelikar, with Luna (Galaxa) orbiting Terra Prime. Only one other planet, Aris, hosts a native human-descended population: the rust-skinned Arisites.
Origins and Evolution
Humanity began its rise amidst an AI and cybernetic renaissance. The invention of the first sentient artificial intelligence ushered in new rights laws, followed by the normalization of cyberware—including full sensory limb replacements and cognitive neural implants. It was during this golden age that the Elvari made first contact, gifting humanity with a Class-III Teleka Drive—a gesture meant to encourage their spiritual and social maturation.
Initially wary, humanity soon embraced the gift as a divine spark. The Elvari's hope was simple: to broaden human perspective, slow their expansion, and grant them a chance at cosmic maturity.
The Diaspora
With material resources dwindling and wanderlust ignited, humans launched their exodus in massive colony ships. Roughly twenty ships scattered across Galaxa, many landing on worlds that now bear names like Neo Terra Prime, Neo Terra Prime II, Perisolus, and Fithrin.
The exodus left Terra Prime depopulated, its surviving elders fading with the ruins. The homeworld’s precise location was eventually lost—only remembered by the Ursid.
Despite the distance, humanity maintained a shared identity. They may have forgotten where they began, but never who they were.
Racial Subgroups
Over time, distinct races emerged, shaped by genetic engineering, adaptation, and cultural divergence:
- Terranite: The original humans—brown skin, brown hair, and brown eyes.
- Neo-Terranite: Light brown descendants of the Terranites, often considered superior by the Imperium of the Pure.
- Therinite: Pale-skinned humans from Therinus, the second human-settled world.
- Arisite: Rust-red-skinned mutants adapted to Aris’s harsh radiation and thin atmosphere.
- Fithrite: Ebony-skinned survivors of the ultraviolet-bombarded world Fithrin.
- Perite: Light-skinned, fair-featured colonists of Perisolus.
- Nordite: Cold-dwelling genetic modifiers from Nordus Prime, known for pale skin, red/blonde hair, and green or blue eyes.
- Durite: Genome-modified humans—short, dense, and adapted to high-gravity environments.
Politics and Culture
Humans are culturally diffuse, with both isolated societies and sprawling empires. While early expansion was marked by fierce territorialism and internal conflict, exposure to interstellar civilizations tempered their aggression.
Some humans remain fiercely xenophobic, particularly supremacist groups like the Imperium of the Pure. Yet most Galaxan humans are famed for their xenophilia and interspecies curiosity—especially toward Near-Humans designed by Esmerelea and Theadrid, with whom they can often interbreed.
Faith and Philosophy
The ancient religion devoted to Esmerelea (the Spirit Womb) and Theadrid (the Architect) has endured across a million Galaxian years. Other pantheons have emerged as well, but the divine parents remain sacred to many.
Spiritual movements often combine cosmology and psionics, producing sects focused on astral meditation, divine DNA resonance, and prophetic gene mapping.
Relations with Other Species
Humans maintain strong ties with:
- The Canids, due to ancient shared roots.
- The Sluggo, for trade—despite mutual disgust.
- The Lekaran, to whom they are highly compatible in body and spirit. Lekaran-Human romances are legendary for their emotional depth and psionic intimacy.
Technological & Cultural Contributions
- Starships: Renowned for reliability and modular design.
- Weapons: Mass-produced, simple, and deadly.
- Fashion & Art: Chaotic, emotive, and untranslatable. Especially popular among alien youth subcultures.
- Music: The birth of the genre "Plasma Metal" is attributed to human ship crews with nothing but broken instruments and a dream.
Trivia
- The phrase “Born for the Black” denotes humans born in deep space, rarely or never visiting planetary surfaces.
- Esmerelea and Theadrid are worshipped by the Galaxan faithful as creators—often portrayed as a pair of intertwining stars.
- Humans frequently tattoo ancestral coordinate glyphs on their bodies to mark family origin planets.
- Some alien courts (like the Frellanic Court) use replica human teeth as high fashion accessories.
- The popular Galaxan holodrama "ChronoHearts"—featuring a tragic Human-Lekaran love story—is banned in several purist empires.
- The dish "Plasma-Fried Synthemeat with Neo-Terran Berries" is considered a human delicacy in elite diplomatic circles.
- No known human has successfully found Terra Prime (Galaxa). Several expeditions have vanished trying.
