Warfare (Lethurèa)

From Continuum Universes Wiki

Warfare in Lethurèa has persisted since the earliest echoes of creation. Though Spirits cannot be destroyed by conventional means, conflict has shaped the Universal memory and spiritual evolution of the realm. The history of warfare is defined by transcendent epochs, species near extinction events, spiritual rebellions, and Free Species unending fight for survival against Malisik.

Early Conflicts

The True First War

The first documented war in Lethurèa's history was a chaotic battle between ancient spirits in the Pre-Mortal Existence. Their objective was to contain the evil of Malis and his followers, corrupted spirits, later sealed in the prison-realm of Gozog'nok. Though no spirit was truly slain in this primordial skirmish, the battle scarred the spiritual resonance of Yedistren and foreshadowed future devastation.

The First War

Eons later, the First War began between the Sebuuk and Sherok. Tainted by Malis, the Sebuuk sought to purge the Sherok and subvert the Divine Order by opening Yedistren to other spirits. The war, fought with bladed weapons and raw brutality, devastated Yedistren. In the aftermath, the Sebuuk were sealed within Gozog'nok. With the Sherok crippled, the First-Flames created new species to repopulate the war-torn Yedistren. Essential the Sebuuk got what they wanted after all.

The High Valorèin Rebellion

Following the dominion of the First-Flames, the High Valorèin initiated a rebellion. This uprising was short-lived but nearly resulted in the genocide of the Sherok. Upon breaching the Council Chambers, the First-Flames cursed the High Valorèin for their defiance, marking the abrupt end of their insurrection. Despite this, war would soon return to Yedistren.

The One War

The most catastrophic and enduring war in Lethurèa's history, the One War, spanned an entire era. Its nature shifted over time—strategic, psychological, and spiritual. Many believed it would never end. The war's complexity is reflected in its tactics, weapons, and the rise of modern war machines.

Weaponry

Free Species

The Free Species wield a wide array of weapons, many adapted to their physiology and culture:

  • Projectile Weapons: Plasma Blasters, Laser Blasters, Gauss Guns, and Railguns are standard.
  • Explosives: Fragmentation, kinetic, and nanite-based munitions are widely deployed.
  • Melee Weapons: Plasma-infused blades are standard. Elite warriors use swords forged from Celestial Metals, surpassing plasma in cutting power and effectiveness against Malisik.
  • Valorèin Weapons: Valorèin warriors employ immense war bows requiring their incredible strength—silent, precise, and deadly at range.

Malisik

The Malisik utilize cruel and torturous weaponry:

Armor

Free Species

Armors vary by species, but often include:

  • Mechanical Armor: Enhances strength, sensory capacity, and agility.
  • Celestial Armor: Rare and spiritually fortified against corruption and entropy.

Malisik

Malisik scorn mechanical enhancement in armor, favoring instead:

  • Corrupted Armor: Forged in Gozog’nok, darkly resilient and resistant to Celestial weaponry.

War Machines

Free Species

  • Mechs & Walkers: Piloted through Cyberware neuro-interfaces, functioning as extensions of the warrior's will.
  • Voyd Spirit-Controlled Vehicles: Semi-sentient constructs guided by Voyd Spirits.
  • Scouting Units: Hoverbikes offer mobility at the cost of stealth.

Malisik Horde & Inquisition

  • Horde Constructs: Crude mobile weapons platforms designed for psychological and physical devastation.
  • Inquisition Constructs: Durable, advanced Walkers and limited Mech use by Shemèin pilots.

Advanced Technologies

Free Species

Malisik

Din

Din is a psionic force used solely by the Free Species. Most often expressed as Pyrokinesis, it allows for the manipulation of fire and plasma. Only individuals with latent psionic potential can wield Din.

Augmentations

Body Mods

Enhancements used by Free Species to improve biological functions:

  • Additional organs (e.g., hearts, lungs, kidneys)
  • Adaptation of foreign traits via organ grafts

Cyberware

Cybernetic replacements for limbs or internal organs. Highly invasive and spiritually controversial among some species—especially the Valorèin.

Malisik Usage

Malisik physiology readily accepts augmentation. Body mods are often recycled from fallen Malisik. Cyberware is used only by elites.

Orbital and Space Warfare

  • Free Species maintain Space Navies for planetary defense and interstellar deployment.
  • The Malisik Inquisition modifies selected warriors for zero-G and low-orbit combat, often sacrificing their sanity.

Tactics

Valorèin

  • Masters of all forms of combat: close-quarters, ranged, and stealth.
  • Shrouding armor and cloaks render them nearly invisible.
  • They wear heavy leg armor due to their towering size.
  • On open fields, they await enemy charges before unleashing devastating counterattacks with Greatblades.

Malisik Horde

  • Favor close-quarters slaughter.
  • Bloodlust triggers frenzies and berserker states.
  • Employ Psychological Warfare and design killzones to funnel enemies into traps.

Malisik Inquisition

Valorèin Warfare Philosophy

  • Ancient Valorèin fought nude, relying on their extraordinary physiology and regeneration.
  • Introduction of Malisik prompted use of armor: first padded, then metal, and eventually powered armor.
  • Valorèin reject Cyberware except in cases of extreme injury.
  • Pyrokinesis was once common among the High Valorèin, but the Curse reduced psionic ability in later generations.

Legacy

Despite technological evolution, the The One War would never have ended if it wasn't for the rise of the Chosen Hero and Heroine uniting the Free Species
