Mattius “Stogie” Wrinklebutt was a beloved Shar Pei Canid restaurateur and the accidental patriarch of the Wrinklebutt Family. Known for his chain of rustic eateries called Stogie’s Biscuit House, Mattius originally had no ties to organized crime — until his signature product, the Spice Cigar, was banned sector-wide.

His stubborn refusal to stop smoking or producing Spice Cigars led his son, Gordon Wrinklebutt, into the smuggling operations that later formed the foundations of the Curl-Tail Crime Ring. Mattius remains a controversial but respected figure: remembered both for his culinary legacy and for unintentionally lighting the first spark of a criminal empire.

Appearance

Mattius was a large, obese Shar Pei Canid with distinctive contrasting eyes:

  • one brown
  • one ice blue

He had white fur, heavy jowls, and a habitual spice-stained muzzle from decades of cigar use. His wrinkles were deep and expressive, giving him a perpetually amused expression.

Personality

Mattius was known for:

  • booming laughter
  • stubborn optimism
  • a love of simple pleasures
  • unpretentious charm
  • disregard for legal restrictions

He was fiercely loyal to family and had an uncanny ability to calm even the rowdiest patrons with a smile and a warm plate of biscuits.

Early Life

Born in Talus on Felimar Prime, Mattius came from a long line of cooks and bakers. He and his mate, Olga Feralfang, founded the first Stogie’s Biscuit House using family recipes and experimental Spice blends.

The restaurant became famous across Felimar Prime for:

  • its biscuits
  • its warm atmosphere
  • the ever-present haze of Spice Cigar smoke

Mattius insisted the scent “added character.”

The Spice Cigar Ban

When Spice Cigars were outlawed due to health and addiction concerns, Mattius refused to stop production. Government raids shut down his smoke rooms, but he continued making them in secret.

His son, Gordon, outraged by the ban and determined to protect the family business, smuggled the cigars illegally — creating the earliest version of the Curl-Tail operation.

Though not a criminal himself, Mattius is now considered the spiritual ancestor of the Wrinklebutt underworld dynasty.

Legacy

Mattius Wrinklebutt’s legacy includes:

  • the culinary success of Stogie’s Biscuit House
  • the origin of the Wrinklebutt crime lineage
  • countless Shar Pei Canid family traditions
  • iconic Spice Cigar lore

The original Biscuit House sign hangs in the Curl-Tail Crime Ring headquarters as a sacred relic.

Trivia

  • His nickname “Stogie” came from his refusal to go even one hour without a Spice Cigar.
  • His favorite biscuit recipe remains a guarded family secret.
  • Despite founding nothing criminal himself, he appears in most crime-ring genealogies as “The Grandfather of the Curl-Tail.”
