Vulgarok in full manifestation.

Vulgarok are a sinister, body‑possessing variant of the Sebuuk spirit tribe. They first appeared after the Curse robbed the Sebuuk of the ability to inhabit physical forms. The only way they could manifest other than as an Ômôtar was transforming some of their most ruthless warriors into demonic homunculi. While most cursed Sebuuk could only manifest as the skeletal Ômôtar during pitch‑black nights, the Vulgarok achieved a permanent, flesh‑like vessel through a forbidden ritual of utilizing Malisik Corruption.

Origin and Creation[edit | edit source]

The Malisik Inquisition discovered a way to bind a dead Shemîin infant with pure corruption, creating a malformed homunculus that could host a Sebuuk spirit. The ritual can only be performed on Gokolok, whose sky is shrouded in a permanent darkening clouds that block Luma Radiation. Within this darkness, a single lumens count above one hundred will repel the spirit back to the realm of Gozog'nok, making the process both rare and perilous. Any amount of light too bright will destabilize the ritual. The exact cause of the infant’s death remains a mystery, though the prevailing theory is a ritual‑induced, excruciating demise.

Physical Description[edit | edit source]

  • Size – Height averages 396 cm; mass is low due to a largely skeletal frame.
  • Skin – A glossy, metallic black exoskeleton that reflects little light, granting natural camouflage in shadowed environments.
  • Eyes – Unsettling glowing‑green orbs that emit a faint phosphorescence, allowing limited vision in the photon‑cloud of Gokolok.
  • Mouth and Tongue – A leering maw filled with oversized fangs; a flexible, whip‑like tongue can extend up to two metres, used to snare prey or manipulate objects.
  • Limbs – Digitigrade, bipedal stance; claws are retractable, enabling both silent stalking and powerful grappling.

Biology and Physiology[edit | edit source]

Vulgarok are not true biological organisms; their bodies are sustained by a blend of corrupted essence and residual homuncular tissue. Metabolism is driven by the consumption of high‑energy organic matter, classifying them as hyper carnivores. Their skeletal structure is reinforced with Malisik Matter deposits that make them resistant to conventional weaponry, yet they remain vulnerable to intense heat, Luma Radiation and pure photonic energy, which can destabilize their corrupted matrix.

Abilities[edit | edit source]

  • Spirit Possession – A Vulgarok can channel the full spectrum of Sebuuk spiritual powers, including telepathy, necrotic aura, and limited reality‑warping within a 10‑meter radius.
  • Photonic Adaptation – In the darkened atmosphere of Gokolok, they can see and act without reliance on visible light.
  • Whip‑Tongue Strike** – The elongated tongue can deliver venomous secretions that cause rapid necrosis.
  • Regeneration – Minor wounds close within minutes, provided the host spirit remains anchored to the body.

Weaknesses[edit | edit source]

  • Fire & Bright Light – Direct exposure to flames, any Luma Radiation, or intense photonic bursts sears the metallic skin and forces the spirit to retreat.
  • Lumen Threshold – Sustained illumination weakens the Vulgarok and extended exposure to significant light forces Sebuuk Spirit back to Gozog'nok.
  • Corruption Instability – Prolonged periods without feeding on high‑energy flesh cause the homuncular body to decay, rendering the spirit vulnerable.

Cultural Role[edit | edit source]

Within Sebuuk hierarchy, Vulgarok serve as elite enforcers for the Malisik Inquisition. Their terrifying appearance and near‑invincibility make them ideal for intimidation, ritual sacrifice, and the suppression of dissenting tribes. They are rarely seen outside Gokolok, but legends speak of their occasional incursions into neighboring worlds where they hunt for souls to fuel further corruption.

Encounter and Lore[edit | edit source]

  • **First Recorded Sighting** – The earliest documented encounter dates to the First‑Flames era, when a Vulgarok breached the outer rim of the Yedistren system, leaving a trail of charred settlements.
  • **Mythic Significance** – Some seers interpret the Vulgarok as avatars of the “Darkened Sun,” a portent of an age where corruption eclipses creation.
  • **Countermeasures** – Scholars advise the use of concentrated photonic artillery and sanctified fire rites to neutralize or banish Vulgarok incursions.
