Merek Tetorak

Merek Tetorak, best known as the Ancient Hero, is a legendary figure in Valorèin and Lethurèa history. Born to the noble House Tetorak, he rose to become protector of the Kûlaron Dynasty and later king alongside his soulmate, Míra Kûlaron Tetorak. His life, myth, and deeds shape the foundation of the Heroine’s Dynasty, the oldest known lineage among modern Valorèin.

Merek’s story is revered in sacred texts and children’s tales, serving as both a symbol of virtue and an immortal warning about the price of defiance and the rewards of mercy.

Early Life

Merek Tetorak was born into the prestigious House Tetorak, tasked with the safety and well-being of the Kûlaron Dynasty. By age sixteen (Lethurèan Standard Calendar), he was chosen to guard Princess Míra Kûlaron. Bound by tradition, he maintained strict adherence to High Valorèin customs, refraining from physical contact—even as he grew closer to the princess he was sworn to protect.

The Lifemate Bond

After a severe training injury, Merek finally accepted Míra’s long-standing request to perform the sacred—and now controversial—ritual known as The Ûlèum. This act, both intimate and powerful, bound them as Lifemates (Valorèin), forging an unbreakable Soul-Tether that allowed them to share thoughts, sensations, and even memories across any distance. Their union, once considered natural and sacred, has since become the stuff of legend.

Rise to Power

With the ascension of Míra to Queen, Merek served as her consort and protector. While she oversaw governance, he remained the shield and sword of the dynasty. Their reign was soon threatened when Queen Míra’s father was executed by the Sherok Imperial Guard at the command of the First-Flames, igniting a catastrophic war and the flight of the noble houses to the Cities in the Stars.

The Curse and the War of Deliverance

Following their rebellion, the High Valorèin were afflicted by The Curse (Va Drothok), a vampiric bloodline malediction placed by the Sherok. The Curse forced generations of Valorèin into blood dependency, spiritual turmoil, and societal fragmentation, with some—known as Shemèin—embracing the darkness and forsaking the afterlife for power.

Despite this, Merek and Míra united the Free Species and led a desperate campaign to defeat the Malisik Horde and the Malismorâ. They were granted the Elements of It'slâmwâ and legendary Blades of Evil’s Bane, forged by Hauthen Miltharê, to confront their greatest foes.

Mercy and Legacy

At the climax of the war, Merek and Míra chose mercy, casting the defeated Malismorâ into the Depths of Gozog'nok and sealing the rift, rather than executing him. With the war ended, they founded the Shíkû Order, the most elite warrior brotherhood of the era, and established the Heroine’s Dynasty—a golden age of unity, peace, and valor.

Their reign lasted for more than eighty millennia, and their lives became the standard by which all future generations measured greatness. In the end, they did not die, but answered the sacred Call of It'slâmwâ, ascending peacefully beyond the mortal plane.

Myth, Worship, and Discovery

Merek and Míra’s story is central to Valorèin spirituality and folklore. Their names—and many variations—are given to descendants as a mark of reverence, much as humans name children after saints or prophets. Their deeds are recited at festivals and woven into lullabies, and their crypt—where their bodies and the Blades of Evil’s Bane rest—is said to have been discovered only by King Zûrik Ûrlek, Mêra Ûrlek Teslek, and Merik Teslek.

The Pre-Existence and Chosen Legacy

Legend holds that in the Pre-Existence (Lethurèa), the Divine Parents Mother and Father asked the spirits to choose their own leaders, heroes, and heroines. Merek and Míra were among those chosen, and their names became a legacy carried by billions.

Lasting Influence

The Curse reduced the Valorèin lifespan from an ancient 3,000 years to an average of 1,200, but Merek and Míra’s reign of 100,000 years is mythically unique. The Heroine’s Dynasty is remembered as the first and greatest dynasty; its descendants number in the billions, with no direct claim to divinity, but all sharing in its legacy.

Trivia

The Ûlèum, the act that bonded Merek and Míra, is now taboo, seen as both sacred and dangerous.

Merek’s legendary size, strength, and features are the subject of hyperbolic tales and artistic renderings.

Only three individuals are said to have entered the crypt of the Ancient Hero and Heroine.

Merek Tetorak, aka The Ancient Hero, was a Warrior Born of the Noble House of Tetorak. House Tetorak was in charge of the Kûlaron Dynasty's safety and well being. He was tasked at the age of Sixteen-Lethurèan-Years-Old with protecting Princess Míra. He showed great promised both martially and academically.

He grew very close to Princess Míra. Though Merek was not permitted to leave her side even while dress, bathing, or sleeping. He slept on the floor on a rug she had knit for him. High Valorèin culture forbade physical contact and though Princess Míra offered to let him sleep with her. He demanded that he follow tradition.

One day after Merek Tetorak had severely injured his back in the sparing yard, he submitted to her request. Little did he know that this would be the Night he became Princess Míra mate. In a fit of passion they performed The Ûlèum. Merek Tetorak had consummated and this bound their union. They were forever to be Lifemates.

Princess Míra disclosed to Merek Tetorak that she had been trying to get him to perform The Ûlèum for a quarter of a Lethurèan Century. This union was not looked down on by High Valorèin culture. It was natural and sacred. She had her parents blessing. Sadly she had been too shy to confess her love to him.

Princess Míra now Queen Míra ruled along side Merek Tetorak as Twelve Queen and King. His duties were purely protection while Queen Míra oversaw everything else. Rumors of War began to brew within the Royal Court and it became known that, Queen Míra's father had been beheaded by the Sherok Imperial Guard on order of the First-Flames for descent against them.

War broke out and with it most of the Noble Houses fled to the Cities in the Stars. With the tragedy of The Curse, the First-Flames, albeit to late, realized what they had done wrong. They sought out Queen Míra and Merek Tetorak. The First-Flames revealed that they had be chosen in the Pre-Existence to rule over their fellow spirits and guide the forces against Malis' forces.

He and Queen Míra were granted the Elements of It'slâmwâ and Hauthen Miltharê, a master Solar Smith, crafted them the Blades of Evil's Bane. They were tasked with confronting and defeating Malis' Dark Prophet Malismorai. First, he and Queen Míra delivered the Valorèin from Malisik captivity. Returning to their shattered worlds.

He and Queen Míra united the Free Species and set forth to destroy the Malisik Horde and Malismorâ. He and Queen Míra proved to be superior opponents at their confrontation. At the Last Moment on the Gozog'nokan Observation Platform when they were about to smote off Malismorâ's head he begged for Mercy. Merek Tetorak and Queen Míra showed pity and cast him into the Depths of Gozog'nok and sealed the Rift.

Merek Tetorak went on to found the Shíkû Order and he ruled as King of the Heroine's Dynasty with Queen Míra for over eighty millennia. They had fifty-six children over the course of their one-hundred-thousand-Lethurèan-Year lives. They did not die rather they answered The Call.
