Voyd Technology is a family of advanced (and notoriously temperamental) technologies native to the universe of Lethurîa. It draws its primary power from Voyd, a deep-energy connection that can be converted into other usable forms such as thermal, electrical, and positronic energy. In practical terms, Voyd-powered systems can approach “limitless” output—if they can be stabilized long enough to be useful.

Overview

Voyd Technology is defined less by its outward form and more by its power-source interface: a tuned linkage to Voyd that feeds energy into conventional machinery, exotic materials, or crystalline computation lattices.

Because the energy gradient involved is extreme, Voyd devices often generate heavy electromagnetic and metaphysical interference. Proper insulation, shielding, and dampening are mandatory for safe operation. Even when correctly contained, Voyd systems commonly produce audible crackling, ionization noise, and shimmering air-distortion around conduits and emitters.

Engineering Characteristics

Energy Conversion

Voyd interfaces can be configured to express output in multiple domains:

  • Thermal conversion — heat sources for forges, reactors, and propulsion systems.
  • Electrical conversion — high-voltage grids, ship systems, and field projectors.
  • Positronic conversion — specialized computational and control architectures used in high-end automation and cognition systems.

Interference and Containment

Voyd energy is difficult to harness cleanly. Common engineering requirements include:

  • layered insulating ceramics and crystal-resin composites
  • interference dampeners (often tuned to local planetary resonance)
  • Faraday-style shielding plus metaphysical “quieting” layers
  • hard physical separation between Voyd conduits and biological crew spaces

Vehicles powered by Voyd commonly emit loud crackling and arcing sounds during acceleration, shield cycling, or high-load maneuvers.

Applications

Propulsion and Power Systems

Voyd reactors and conduits can supply extreme output with minimal “fuel” logistics, making them ideal for:

  • starship and atmospheric craft powerplants
  • industrial-scale fabrication lines
  • long-duration outposts where resupply is impossible

Weapons Systems

Voyd weapons are feared for their raw intensity and side effects. When fired, many Voyd-based weapons produce dangerous radiation blooms and residual ionization trails. Operators typically require hardened shielding, and firing ranges must account for lingering contamination or destabilized fields.

Computing and Transmission

The most unique forms of Voyd Technology appear in computing.

Voyd computers are typically crystalline systems that use Voyd resonance as a transmission medium—functionally comparable to an “internet” or radio network, but operating through Voyd-coupled signal pathways rather than purely electromagnetic channels. These networks can carry data across extreme distances and through conditions that would disrupt conventional transmission, though signal clarity depends heavily on local interference, containment quality, and resonance alignment.

Voyd Spirits and Bonded Intelligence

A defining—and controversial among some species—feature of Voyd Technology is its tendency to bind Voyd spirits into tools, machines, and even weapons. In this role, Voyd spirits behave similarly to Artificial Intelligence, providing interpretation, decision-making, and adaptive behavior.

  • A bonded blade forged in a Voyd Forge may act according to its own will, yet traditionally remains loyal to its master’s interests.
  • Bonding rites commonly use a master’s blood or hair as an anchor, establishing identity-recognition and authority linkage between wielder and spirit.

Ainan

Ainan are a notable class of Voyd-associated Artificial Intelligence used as housekeepers and stewards of Valorîin homes. They can manifest in a physical form that is photonic rather than biological—capable of interacting with automation systems, objects, and individuals while remaining non-flesh.
