Help:Contributing
Welcome! We’re excited to have new members join the project. To keep the wiki safe, creative, and high-quality, we use a tiered contributor system. Everyone starts small and earns greater responsibility through respectful participation and consistent contributions.
Step 1: Request an Account
- Click on the “Request account” link at the top right.
- Fill out the form with:
- A clear username (not random nonsense).
- A short description of your interests or how you found the wiki.
- Requests are reviewed through the ConfirmAccount system.
- Most accounts are approved quickly unless the request is blank or clearly spam.
Step 2: Start as a Fan
- All new members begin as Fans.
- Fans can:
- Read articles.
- Participate in the Forum.
- Interact with the community.
- Before moving forward, all Fans are expected to review:
Step 3: Prove Yourself in the Forum
- The Forum is the testing ground for new members.
- Share your thoughts, discuss lore, ask questions, and interact with other members.
- Demonstrating good behavior and respect here is essential before gaining higher privileges.
Step 4: Apply to be an Author
- To contribute to the wiki directly, complete the Author Application Google Form (linked on the Forum and Help desk).
- Authors can draft and suggest edits, but all edits require approval before they go live.
- Authors are also expected to follow the licensing and contribution policies listed above.
Advancement Paths
Contributors who consistently demonstrate commitment and skill may be considered for higher ranks:
- Loremaster
- After making 250 approved article edits, you will be considered for the rank of Loremaster.
- Loremasters have broader editing rights and are trusted to help shape the wiki’s written content.
- Forgemaster
- If your contributions are primarily creative works outside of articles, you may be considered for the rank of Forgemaster.
- Example requirements:
- 10 audio clips contributed.
- 5 videos (5 minutes or longer) contributed.
- 25 art images contributed.
- Forgemasters are trusted curators of multimedia content for the wiki.
Why This System Exists
This tiered structure ensures that contributors:
- Understand and follow wiki policies.
- Are committed to the community.
- Can be trusted with greater editing privileges.
- Receive recognition for their unique talents, whether in writing or multimedia.
