Mechanized Armor—sometimes called Mechanical Armor—is the evolved form of the traditional mechanical exoskeleton, upgraded with protective plating, support musculature, and advanced mobility systems. Designed to enhance the wearer’s physical performance well beyond natural limits, mechanized armor enables soldiers to carry heavier loads, move faster, leap farther, and fight longer than any unassisted warrior.

While not classified as mecharmor—as it does not require piloting, cockpit operation, training cycles, or neural synchronization—it remains one of the most formidable forms of infantry protection and augmentation in the Continuum Universes.

Overview

Mechanized Armor provides a skeletal support structure wrapped around the user’s limbs and torso. Its systems augment the wearer’s:

  • Strength – lifting and striking power multiplied several times over
  • Speed – servo-assisted running, sprinting, and lateral movement
  • Dexterity – micro-motor articulation for precision handling
  • Mobility – jump-assist servos and inertial boosters enable leaps far beyond natural capability

Despite considerable weight—sometimes several hundred kilograms—the armor carries its own mass, allowing even lighter species to operate heavy configurations effectively.

Power Sources

Power supply varies by civilization and manufacturer:

Fusion Cells

Common among human-compatible systems; long-lasting but finite.

Plasma Cores

High-output military-grade units; require periodic cooling and recharging.

Voyd-Based Cores (Valorîin)

Used exclusively in Valorîin armor. Powered directly by Voyd energy, these cores:

  • never run out of power
  • operate without heat buildup
  • allow continuous operation for weeks or months
  • match the Valorîin’s near-inexhaustible stamina

This gives Valorîin mechanized infantry a notorious edge in prolonged combat.

Neural Interfacing

Basic mechanized armor can be used with no training, relying on servo-follow systems that mimic and amplify the wearer’s movement. More advanced models incorporate:

  • neural-thread interfaces
  • tactile feedback loops
  • heat and cold sensation simulation
  • fine-motor augmentation

These enhancements allow movement so natural that many warriors describe the armor as an extension of their own body.

Protection

Mechanized Armor typically incorporates:

  • layered composite armor
  • ceramic thermal panels
  • Polarized Armor integration
  • plasma-resistant Varkest Armor plates (elite models)
  • shock-dampening mechanical spine
  • kinetic absorption gel

Higher-tier units can withstand penetrating plasma, anti-armor slugs, explosive fragmentation, and even glancing hits from vortex plasma.

Modular Enhancements

Mechanized Armor is designed for extensive modification. Common attachments include:

  • Jet Packs – sustained flight for short distances
  • Jump Thrusters – directional bursts enabling rooftop leaps or battlefield traversal
  • Armor-Mounted Weapons – wrist cannons, shoulder launchers, plasma blades
  • Inertial Dampeners – reduction of G-forces during sudden acceleration
  • Life Support Systems – vacuum operation, sealed helmets, radiation shielding
  • Environmental Filters – toxin scrubbing, temperature regulation
  • Polarized Armor Arrays – enhanced plasma resistance

Elite versions may include stealth systems, psionic dampeners, or integrated field projectors.

Comparison to Mecharmor

Mechanized Armor is NOT considered “mecharmor” because it:

  • requires no piloting
  • does not enclose the user like a vehicle
  • needs no training simulators
  • usually has no cockpit
  • is worn directly over the body
  • responds to natural motion rather than joystick or neural-command piloting

Mecharmor, by contrast, is operated remotely or internally like a combat vehicle.

Mechanized Armor is essentially “your body, but stronger.”

Military Use

Mechanized Armor is employed widely by:

  • Valorîin Royal Marines – voydenhanced heavy infantry
  • planetary defense forces
  • starship boarding specialists
  • Coalition shock troops
  • elite anti-Malisik units

Valorîin heavy-armored infantry in particular are infamous for their staggering endurance and untiring advance, made possible by the synergy of Voyd physiology and infinite-power armor systems.
