A universe is a sentient entity fathomed by a Divine within the Yonder Realm. Each universe is immense in scale, born containing vast stores of raw matter and energy. Unlike mere constructs, universes possess consciousness, will, and the ability to manipulate the resources within themselves. They are both environment and being, capable of thought and response.

Creation and Birth

Universes come into being when a Divine exerts the Rights of Divine Creation. At birth, a universe is formless and brimming with primordial matter and energy. From this foundation, laws, structures, and life can be shaped, often guided by the intentions of their Divine originators.

Sentience and Personality

Like many entities of the Continuum, universes are inherently sentient. They exhibit thought and awareness, often forming unique personalities. Some may bond with their creators, while others remain distant and enigmatic. Their ability to rearrange their own substance makes them both a vessel and an active participant in creation.

Role of Divine Parents

Divine Parents—binary pairs of Divines—typically place their spirit children within universes they have fathomed. These children grow, develop, and eventually face Judgment Day, fulfilling the cycles of divine education and testing.

  • When a Divine lacks a partner, they may instead take their fathomed universe as a spouse, forming what is known as a pair of Union Parents.
  • Universes themselves are always assigned a binary gender, allowing them to fulfill the role of spouse or co-creator within the divine hierarchy.

Relationships with Divines

A universe is not merely a container for creation; it is also a member of the Divine Family’s greater structure. In rare circumstances, a Divine and their universe share such compatibility that they bond as spouses. These unions emphasize the profound intimacy between creator and creation.

Cosmological Function

Within the Continuum Universes, each universe acts as a closed system, holding its own natural laws. However, events such as The Convergence can destabilize boundaries, leading to bleed-over of magic, time, or matter between neighboring universes.
