Nola Prime is the homeworld of the Noelaran, a sentient hermaphroditic centauroid species. Located within the Nolaris System, the planet is defined by its extreme atmospheric chemistry, megaflora ecosystems, and a biosphere historically altered by an extraterrestrial microbial incursion.

Nola Prime later became the proving ground for the Pacifism Field, transforming its once-hostile ecology into a peaceful and thriving environment.

Physical Characteristics

Atmosphere

Nola Prime's atmosphere is exceptionally dense and chemically unusual:

  • ~40% oxygen
  • ~30% nitrogen
  • ~10% carbon dioxide
  • ~10% argon

trace boron-oxide aerosols

The boron-oxide vapor produces the planet’s distinctive turquoise sky-haze. High oxygen and elevated CO₂ contribute to rapid biological growth and intense global storms.

Gravity

With a surface gravity of 1.5 G, life on Nola Prime evolved:

  • dense musculature,
  • reinforced silicon-woven skeletons,
  • wide low-lying megaflora,
  • and thick dermal layers adapted to high atmospheric pressure.

Geography

Nola Prime contains three major continents separated by boron-rich alkaline oceans. Dominant biomes include:

  • the megaflora plains filled with massive clonal Fusion Trees,
  • boron crystal deserts,
  • alkaline wetlands,
  • and silicate uplands.

Ecology

Flora

The most iconic organisms on Nola Prime are the colossal fusion-trees—megaflora that reproduce by merging root-matrices. These superorganisms can reach hundreds to thousands of miles in diameter.

  • Other notable flora include:
  • deep-rooted alkaline succulents,
  • spongiform fruit-forests,
  • boron-adapted marsh vegetation.

Fauna

Native fauna evolved with:

  • silicon-woven internal skeletons,
  • extreme endurance,
  • and tracheal respiratory systems.

Herbivorous megafauna dominate the plains, feeding primarily on fusion-tree tissues. Historically, the planet was stalked by enhanced hyper-predators created by alien microbial integration.

These predators were later neutralized by Noelaran development of the Pacifism Field.

History

Early Evolution

The ancestors of the Noelaran were swift, highly intelligent herbivores that relied on endurance to evade apex predators.

Alien Microbial Incursion

An asteroid grazing the upper atmosphere seeded the world with extraterrestrial microorganisms. These organisms:

  • bonded to native predators,
  • increased aggression and size,
  • created hybrid predator clades,
  • and destabilized the biosphere.

This forced rapid Noelaran technological development.

Rise of Noelaran Technology

The Noelaran advanced through:

  • firecraft,
  • early metallurgy,
  • chemical explosives,
  • and industrial processes
  • largely as survival measures against hyper-predators.

Elvari Contact

First contact with the Elvari was hostile due to Noelaran distrust of extraterrestrial life. Over two centuries, the Elvari guided the Noelaran into a stable interstellar society.

Pacifism Field

The invention of the Pacifism Field pacified the planet’s hyper-predators, ending millennia of ecological conflict. This breakthrough reshaped Noelaran culture toward peace, empathy, and interstellar cooperation.

Modern Era

Today, Nola Prime is:

  • a stabilized world under extensive Pacifism Field protection,
  • a hub of Noelaran cultural development,
  • a major exporter of boron-based materials and cobalt biocomposites,
  • and a universally recognized sanctuary world.

High demand for off-world lithium and sodium salts persists due to the Noelaran species’ biological vulnerabilities.
