Overview
Carbon Dioxide is a colorless, odorless oxide of carbon that forms through combustion, respiration, and decay. Across the Continuum Universes, it is both a life-sustaining and world-altering gas — vital for photosynthesis yet responsible for powerful greenhouse effects on Venus-Like Atmosphere and Permian-Like Atmosphere worlds.
Properties
CO₂ is linear and nonpolar, stable under a wide range of pressures. In aqueous or humid environments, it forms weak Carbonic Acid, altering pH balance and weathering silicate minerals. At high psionic potentials, CO₂ resonates with elemental Earth Essence, contributing to terraforming cycles.
Uses and Occurrences
Used in carbonation, atmosphere management, and divine cultivation chambers. Many divine engineers use controlled CO₂ atmospheres to induce rapid plant growth in biospheric greenhouses.

Trivia
- Considered “the gas of breath and decay” in early divine philosophy.
- Solid carbon dioxide (“dry ice”) was used in the early cryonic preservation of celestial flora.
