Zarii Kenyar was a revered warrior-healer of the Zekerin people, born over a million years after the Zekerin Rebellion. She served as a healer, protector, and later, as a blessed Minor Deity (Lethurîa), directly under the guidance of the Chosen Hero and Heroine. Zarii's legacy is one of selfless love, spiritual power, and final sacrifice—a tale mourned in shrines and whispered in healing rites across Lethurîa.
Origins and Lineage
Zarii was born into the renowned Kenyar Clan as the daughter of Matron Zhenîra Kenyar and Nefar Kenyar. Born long after the age of cleansing, she never lived through the curse, but bore the memory of it within her people's blood. Her spiritual gifts emerged early—her talent for healing matched only by her fearsome skill in combat.
Mistake in Youth
When Zarii was roughly sixteen, Zarii went to a party thrown by some friends of hers. Her mother had warned her not to go. Zhenîra feared that the Tîran there were a bad omen. They did not respect their beliefs and traditions.
Zarii thinking that her mother was paranoid and stuck in the old ways went to the party still. When she was there she was seduced by Oldor Melen, a Tîran boy of twenty-one. Sex was awkward for both of them as Zarii was betraying her traditions. Oldor was two feet shorter than Zarii.
Zarii returned home from the party and Zhenîra immediately smelt the boys semen. At first Zhenîra was angry then fearful. Zhenîra examined her daughter and found she had contract a Sexually Transmitted Disease, known as a Golka Wort. It was one of the few STDs that Zekerin could contract. Zhenîra refused to heal Zarii as it was her burden to bear for her transgressions. Zhenîra did vow that it would be cleansed on Zarii's Binding Day.
Divine Infatuation and Heartbreak
During the wanderings of the Chosen Hero, Merik Teslek, Zarii's clan was aided by the Hero in her absence. Upon her return, she heard of his deeds—and fell deeply, irrevocably in love. Though she yearned to be his mate, her heart broke when she learned he was already soul-bound to Mîra Ûrlek Teslek.
Zarii never acted on her feelings—a wound she bore in silence. Her love remained pure, unconsummated, and sacred.
Service and Ascension
Despite her heartbreak, Zarii chose duty over desire, and served alongside the Chosen during the War on Ûvlâ. Her contributions in the field were legendary—her healing arts mending the maimed even as her sword felled the corrupted.
In recognition of her service and spiritual integrity, she was gifted a portion of the divine essence of Merik and Mîra, granting her Minor Deityhood and the ability to heal beyond the reach of even Magic or surgery.
Final Battle and Death
Zarii's most fabled act came during a siege where she defended a wounded soldier from swarms of Ganagôan, slaying many before confronting a terrifying Vulgarok. She cut its throat and torched it with her Solar Forged blade. But the battle was not over—Vurgorô emerged, and she fought with desperate valor, killing four before being grievously wounded by the last.
As she lay dying, the Chosen found her—Merik Teslek and Mîra Ûrlek Teslek attempted to save her. But she had already heard the Call of It'slâmwâ for the first time in her life. Peace had come to her.
With her final breath, she asked to be cleansed, so she could meet the Mother and Father in purity. Merik wept as he laid hands upon her womb. Mîra joined in, their lights entwining. And with a final kiss, Zarii transcended.
Legacy
Zarii Kenyar now dwells in Alendil, the Tenth Kingdom of It'slâmwâ. Her armor is preserved in the Kenyar Clan Citadel, and a shrine in her name draws pilgrims seeking healing—and those with broken hearts.
She is remembered as:
- A saint of healing
- A warrior of sacrifice
- A tragic romantic whose love was never returned—but never turned bitter
