Maliki III is a planet found in the Xelezok Galaxy's inner rim. Its molten core has long since cooled. The Sluggo arrived on Maliki III some 50,000 Galaxan-years-ago. The planet is covered by an Ecumenopolis just known as Maliki III as the city spans the entirety of the planet. The criminal underbelly of the Surface City is Deep City, known for its lack of law enforcement and thriving criminal underworld.
History
Maliki III was a world with no Tectonic activity. The core had long since gone dormant when the Sluggo arrived. The local fauna and flora were subject to intense radiation and had evolved to become highly aggressive. The Sluggo built cities that were safe from the radiation and the local wildlife. Over the course of a thousand years the Sluggo and other species had begun to build cities that became Megapolises. Eventually all the cities fused and they started to build up.
Layers
Maliki III
Surface City
The gleaming upper levels of Maliki III are characterized by towering megastructures, corporate hubs, and noble estates. Law enforcement is strict, and society is tightly controlled by the Sluggo.
Deep City
Far below the Gleaming Glitter Tech city surface lies the "rotting" remains of the "Old City." The Surface occupants believe that the "Old City" now known as Deep City is a place of poverty, vagabonds, and criminals. Though the Criminal Underworld has a strong presence, many working-class families make their homes in the Upper Limits just below the surface. Treading deeper you will find massive shipping docks and warehouse out of sight of the surface. Factories and Hydroponic farms are found here.
Deep City Grottos
A network of bars, clubs, and dens scattered throughout Deep City, the Grottos are infamous for their illicit wares, smuggled goods, and rampant spice use.
The Depths
Beneath Deep City are the Depths. Here there are the reactors, water reservoirs, and many things that make Deep City and the Surface function. Only the bravest, most desperate, or most stupid venture here. All maintenance performed here is by weaponized Mechs.
The True Surface
The dead planetary surface of Maliki III. Some adventurers have claimed to have found the True Surface though they are considered fools. The Deepest tunnels in the depths are too treacherous for even an army of Mech Troopers and too small for True Mechs. These tunnels dump Rector Waste onto the True Surface.
Pre-Sluggo Environment
The local fauna and flora were subject to intense radiation as Maliki III lacked a magneto sphere. They had evolved to be hearty and highly aggressive. The low gravity of Maliki III allowed for megafauna and megaflora. The ecosystem was temperate in the poles while the equator was home to lifeless deserts reaching temperatures of over 180 Fahrenheit.
Fauna
Herbivores exhibited predatory tendencies as many of the flora were highly mobile. Massive predators hunted in massive packs and would take down massive megafauna. Some of these species still live in The Depths of modern Maliki III. These species are known to venture into Deep City and hunt its inhabitants though this is rare as they are afraid of light. The most infamous of these species is the Kantikor.
Flora
The Flora was known for its large quantity of carnivorous plants. They thrived on eating smaller creatures and taking bites out of megafauna. Parasitic plants would attach to megafauna and plant their roots in the flesh of these creatures. The most notorious of these parasites was the Ex'nyama which can still be found in the Depths of modern Maliki III. Many of species of Flora were highly mobile able to walk, run, swim, and climb.
Mutants
Slicks one of the most feared species of The Depths. Slicks are blind mutant Sluggo known for their varied shapes and sizes. The most consistent trait between them is their size and appetite for sentient species.
Other mutants exist such as the fabled Trolls. These trolls can see in pure darkness. They feed on the remnant species of Maliki III. They are ferocious enough to fight Kantikors with their bear hands and have scars to show for it. They seem highly intelligent, though, their aggressive and reclusive behavior prevents any research.
Trivia
- There are activists that are pushing for legislation to protect Maliki III's natural inhabitants and mutants of The Depths. They cite that dumping of Rector Waste onto the True Surface is causing detrimental mutations.
